How to use the calculator

Enter the item price and quantity, your cost to make or buy each item, and the shipping on the order. Then set the Etsy fees below: the flat listing fee, the transaction percentage, the payment processing percentage and flat fee, and the Offsite Ads rate if the sale came through one. The result panel keeps a running net profit, margin and total fees as you type.

The fee fields are editable because Etsy rates differ by country and change over time, so the defaults are a realistic start rather than a promise. Confirm your current rates in your Etsy account and adjust. For the costs that belong in your item cost before any fee, read what is cost of goods sold.

Enter the sale and cost

Item price, quantity and your make-or-buy cost set the order before Etsy takes anything.

Set your fee rates

The listing, transaction and processing fees are editable so they match what Etsy actually charges in your country.

Toggle Offsite Ads

Switch the Offsite Ads fee on only for sales that came through an Etsy ad, so the number stays honest.

Read net profit

The headline figure is what you keep after every Etsy cut and your own costs, not the order total.

The Etsy profit formula

Net profit on an Etsy order is your item revenue minus your item cost, the shipping you pay and every Etsy fee. Margin is that profit over revenue.

Revenue = item price x quantity

Etsy fees = listing + transaction % + processing % + offsite %

Net profit = revenue - item cost - shipping - Etsy fees

The figures in the calculator are illustrative until you type your own. Once you know your margin per order, the how to price a product guide works prices back from a target, and e-commerce profit margin explained covers the costs that quietly eat into it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Etsy charge on a sale?

A flat listing fee to publish the item, a transaction fee taken as a percentage of the item price and shipping, and a payment processing fee that is a percentage plus a fixed amount per order. If the sale came through an Etsy offsite ad, an Offsite Ads fee is also charged as a percentage of the order. The calculator includes all of these and lets you toggle Offsite Ads on or off.

How do I calculate profit on an Etsy order?

Take the item price times quantity as your revenue, then subtract your item cost, the shipping you pay, the listing fee, the transaction fee, the payment processing fee and any Offsite Ads fee. What remains is your net profit, and dividing it by revenue gives your margin.

What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee?

When Etsy advertises your listing on other sites and that ad leads to a sale, Etsy charges a percentage of the order as an Offsite Ads fee. It only applies to those attributed sales, which is why it is a toggle here rather than always on. The rate can differ by shop, so confirm yours and edit the field.

Are these Etsy fee rates accurate?

They are realistic defaults, not a live rate card. Etsy fees vary by country and change over time, so treat the numbers as a starting point, confirm your current rates in your Etsy account, and edit the fields to match.
