A simpler YNAB alternative
YNAB is a genuinely good budgeting app. But its method takes time to learn, and the subscription adds up. If you just want to see spending by category, keep a few budgets, save receipts, and get a clean tax summary, here's where TrueProfit Personal fits.
What TrueProfit Personal gives you
Spending and income at a glance
Money in, money out, and what you keep each month. No four-rule method to master first.
Categories without the ceremony
Bucket your spending and see where it goes. Assign as you log, not with a rigid envelope system.
Budgets that nudge you
Simple category caps with a heads-up before you overspend. Set the few that creep and move on.
Receipts kept with purchases
Snap and attach receipts so nothing's lost when tax time comes around.
A year-end tax summary
Tag deductibles and get a clean summary to hand your accountant.
Private by design
Your data isn't sold. Bank-grade auth, and you can export everything anytime.
An honest note on YNAB
If the zero-based method clicks for you, YNAB is hard to beat, and its automatic bank sync is more mature than ours. TrueProfit isn't trying to out-method YNAB. It's for people who found that overhead was more than they needed and just want clarity on where the money goes.
Clarity without the learning curve
Bring your YNAB history with a CSV import. Free to start, no credit card.

Is TrueProfit Personal a drop-in YNAB replacement?
Not exactly, and that's the point. YNAB is built around its zero-based budgeting method, which many people love and some find like too much work. TrueProfit Personal is for people who just want to see spending by category, keep a few budgets, save receipts, and get a tax summary, without learning a method first.
What does YNAB do that TrueProfit doesn't?
YNAB's give-every-dollar-a-job method and goal targets are deeper than ours, and YNAB has mature automatic bank sync. If that workflow is working for you, it's a genuinely good tool. TrueProfit trades that depth for simplicity.
Does TrueProfit sync with my bank like YNAB?
Not yet. Automatic bank sync is on the roadmap. Today you add transactions yourself or import a CSV, which keeps your data in your control and your costs down.
How much does it cost compared to YNAB?
TrueProfit Personal is free to track income and spending. Paid tiers (Plus $4.99/mo, Pro $9.99/mo) add receipts, budgets, insights, and tax tools, below YNAB's subscription.
Can I bring my history over?
Yes. Export your transactions from YNAB as a CSV and import them so you keep your history.
